SCAD seeks applicants for the role of Title IX coordinator, a full-time benefit-eligible position that reports to the senior vice president for operations and general counsel. Salary is commensurate with experience and the start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search.

The Title IX coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, coordination and oversight of the university’s comprehensive programs and activities that ensure compliance with university policies and state and federal laws related to sexual discrimination and misconduct.

Major duties and responsibilities:
⎯ Provide oversight and coordination of all aspects of Title IX compliance
⎯ Consult and advise senior leadership, faculty and staff on Title IX compliance programs and initiatives
⎯ Communicate with and educate the campus community regarding sexual discrimination and misconduct, Title IX rights and responsibilities, relevant university policies, processes for filing complaints and resources for education, prevention, reporting and response to sexual misconduct
⎯ Develop, implement and coordinate innovative and effective training programs related to sexual discrimination/misconduct prevention, responsibilities and resources for students, faculty and staff
⎯ Manage the Title IX portals and ensure appropriate and timely routing of all complaints, requests for assistance, and inquiries to the necessary university offices responsible for delivering services and carrying out compliance functions
⎯ Ensure the accuracy of institutional data and oversee compliance with required reporting under state and federal laws related to sexual discrimination/misconduct
⎯ Collaborate with other campus offices, as needed, to coordinate and execute in a timely manner the university’s response and investigation of complaints as pursuant to Title IX
⎯ Oversee the development and implementation of periodic campus climate surveys
⎯ Assist in the interpretation and updating of existing university policies and procedures and recommend new policies, procedures and best practices related to preventing, investigating and remediating sexual discrimination/misconduct
⎯ Continuously monitor statutory and regulatory requirements related to sexual discrimination/misconduct and ensure appropriate and timely institutional compliance

Requirements:
⎯ Bachelor’s degree required
⎯ Juris Doctor or graduate degree in legal studies, human resources or other related field preferred

Experience:
Required
⎯ At least five years of relevant professional experience and demonstrated success with progressive responsibility in policy and compliance administration, complaint resolution and investigation of grievances, preferably for a federal, state or other governmental agency or in a college or university setting
⎯ Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local laws and regulations governing employers and institutions of higher education, including Title IX
⎯ Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and with sound judgment
⎯ Demonstrated ability to manage high volume and time-sensitive workload and to meet demanding deadlines
⎯ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
⎯ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative and diverse environment
⎯ Strong commitment to integrity, fairness, and high ethical standards

Preferred
⎯ Experience with civil rights litigation, grievances and/or policy and compliance administration is strongly preferred
⎯ Experience in the successful development and implementation of educational and training programs with strong presentation and facilitation skills preferred
⎯ Experience developing and conducting workplace training preferred, especially in a college or university setting
