SCAD seeks a full-time professor of the history of Asian and/or Eastern art to join the largest group of full-time faculty devoted to art history in the U.S.

In this role, you will develop and teach advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in your area of expertise, while also contributing to the university’s undergraduate and graduate core curriculum.

The SCAD art history department includes more than 30 professors specializing in topics ranging from the ancient world to contemporary art. SCAD professors continually share research with colleagues in the discipline and are award-winning practicing artists and designers. The department is an institutional member of the American Academy in Rome, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Computers and the History of Art, Rhizome, and the American Alliance of Museums, as well as a member of the managing committee of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.

This position requires the ability to motivate a broad range of future art professionals to think creatively and critically. You will work with students and faculty of diverse backgrounds and should demonstrate enthusiasm for working with a variety of learning styles at a leading arts university.

Scholarly interests in visual culture, new media, photography and film as related to Asian and Eastern art history are a plus. You should also have leadership experience and demonstrated classroom success.

This is your chance to work with talented students within the historic district of Savannah, Georgia, a walkable, bikeable coastal city that provides a living laboratory for the study of art and design.
