SCAD seeks a studio manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of department resources.

In this role, you’ll demonstrate safe and correct operation of studio equipment and ensure implementation and compliance with all established safety policies and procedures. In addition, you’ll assist students with special fabrication issues and projects as well as lead safety sessions as requested by faculty.

The studio manager conducts inventory on a quarterly basis and maintains stock of required parts and materials needed for setup operations. You’ll also manage shop monitor and work-study schedules, set and maintain a master calendar for shop use, keep statistics of shop use, and re-evaluate the most effective use of space and redesign or revise as needed. In addition, the studio manager maintains, repairs, modifies and fabricates studio equipment as well as works with the supervisor on the budget.

The ideal candidate has advanced knowledge of the safe and efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of stationary and hand tools, including but not limited to metal and wood lathes, milling machines, table and band saws, drills and jointers.

Finishing skills and experience in an academic environment are helpful but not required, and mechanical or electrical knowledge is a plus.

Requirements:
