SCAD seeks a network specialist to provide strong technical experience and customer service as part of the network services group, an integral team with wide-ranging skills.

The network services group responsibilities range from physical layer, internet protocol camera, voice, WAN configuration and support to application-level support. This involves all aspects of the wired and wireless network communications equipment, including network switching and routing equipment, indoor and outdoor wireless equipment, internet telephony systems, integrated access control, camera systems, and software- and hardware-based network management systems.

In this role, you will coordinate and perform network maintenance and upgrades as well as troubleshoot all aspects of network infrastructure from physical to programming faults, resolving errors and equipment malfunctions and notifying affected parties. Maintaining a focus on security, you will provide excellent customer service and interface with third parties who provide services to the department and campus environment. You will document and verify equipment configuration and network design and provide both remote and on-site support to SCAD buildings. The network specialist also participates in an on-call duty rotation and performs other duties to support network services and university goals.

The ideal candidate is dependable and demonstrates a high degree of initiative. You should have strong working knowledge of routing, switching, wireless technologies — to include 802.3 and 802.11 specifications and OSPF, MPLS, BGP and spanning tree protocols — and supporting processes such as DHCP, DNS, SNMP, Radius, PPP and VPN. Significant experience with Aruba wireless environments, Brocade, Juniper switching/routing equipment and technologies; VoIP telephony languages including SIP and H.323; and Windows, Macintosh and Unix/Linux operating systems and tools is essential.

Requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
 Five-plus years of network support experience
 Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
